How Does Outsourced Survey Drafting Work? Step-by-Step Process

If you have never outsourced drafting before, the process can feel uncertain. In practice it is simple and fits around your existing workflow.

Step 1: Get a quote

Describe the job in the quote calculator or send a sample file. You receive a clear price and delivery time.

Step 2: Upload your files

Create a client account and upload field data, references and your template through the secure dashboard.

Step 3: Drafting

A survey-trained drafter processes points, builds linework, plots boundaries and easements, and lays out sheets on your title block.

Step 4: Quality check

A second team member checks closure, labels, layers, notes and completeness against your checklist.

Step 5: Review and revisions

You download the drawing, review it and request any changes. One revision round is included.

Step 6: Seal, deliver and pay

Your licensed surveyor signs and seals the final drawing. Invoices can be paid online by card through the dashboard.

What happens behind the scenes

Job intake

Each upload is checked for completeness. If something essential is missing, such as a deed or code list, we message you straight away rather than starting with gaps.

Drafter assignment

Jobs are assigned to drafters who already know your template and preferences, so repeat work is consistent.

Progress tracking

Project status updates in your dashboard, from received to in progress, in review and delivered.

Your role in the process

  • Provide complete data and clear instructions.
  • Review the first draft and send consolidated feedback.
  • Have your licensed surveyor sign and seal the final drawing.

Everything else – processing, drafting, checking and plotting – is handled by our team.

Communication and support

You can reach your project contact by dashboard message, email, phone or WhatsApp. For urgent jobs, call ahead so we can schedule a drafter before your files arrive.

Moving from one-off jobs to a monthly plan

Many clients start with a few individual jobs and switch to a monthly plan once they see consistent quality. A monthly plan gives you a dedicated drafter, priority scheduling and a fixed predictable cost, which makes budgeting easier.

Serving firms in four countries

We support survey firms in the USA, Canada, the UK and Australia, drafting to local standards and terminology – from ALTA/NSPS surveys and Ontario reference plans to UK topographical surveys and Australian feature and level surveys.

Common first-time questions

Most new clients ask whether their clients will know drafting was outsourced (they will not), whether they keep ownership of the drawings (they do), and how quickly they can start (usually the same day you send your first job).

After the first job

Repeat jobs are faster because your template, codes and preferences are already on file. Many clients move to a monthly plan once volume is steady.
